An experienced health care professional, Meena Kumar has dedicated 20 years to SAIT, first as an instructor and now as an academic chair for the School of Health and Public Safety.
A graduate of SAIT’s respiratory therapy program, Kumar spent more than a decade in the industry, working for the Calgary Health Region and Medigas Praxair Inc. before returning to SAIT as an instructor in 2000. In 2008, she became the academic chair for therapeutic services and in 2018 took on the role of academic chair for Life Sciences where she is responsible for the respiratory, paramedicine and life support programs.
Kumar earned her Master of Applied Sciences from Australia’s Charles Stuart University in 2010. While at SAIT, Kumar has dedicated herself to leading her teams and ensuring students are best prepared for their careers. Through hard work, she successfully secured $275,000 in funding from external sources to purchase mannequins for the Centre for Advanced Patient Care Simulation and ushered graduates through their programs on time and ready to work, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
