Dental services and fees

The SAIT Dental Clinic operates to provide our Dental Assisting students with practical experience under the supervision of licensed dental health care professionals.

Our students provide a professional and relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on oral hygiene instruction and the prevention of oral diseases.

Appointments are approximately two to three hours long and focus on educating and preventing oral diseases.

Although our services do not replace regular dental exams, they can help families unable to visit a dentist regularly and significantly reduce the cost of your next visit with a family dentist.

Please note that a dental exam is not provided with the following services, and we do not currently offer restorative treatment such as fillings, crowns or root canals.

Polish and fluoride

Polishing is a technique used to remove dental plaque and stains from the outer surfaces of the teeth. A polish is not a substitute for a complete dental cleaning (scaling) that removes the hard deposits from the teeth.

Fluoride is a mineral that occurs naturally in many foods and water. Topical fluoride is placed on the outer surfaces of the teeth to help prevent tooth decay.

Our desensitizing treatment will be offered to patients who suffer from dental hypersensitivity at their appointment. A fluoride varnish will be applied to sensitive teeth.

Fees: $25 per person per service | $50 per family of three or more living at the same address.

X-rays

X-ray services are provided to patients four years of age and older. Each X-ray is processed at SAIT and provided to you at the end of your appointment.

Your dentist can prescribe the X-rays required, or the dentist on staff at SAIT can determine which X-rays are required.

Fees: $25 per person per service | $50 per family of three or more living at the same address

Sealants

Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating applied to the chewing surfaces and grooves of the teeth to help protect against tooth decay. Children, teenagers and adults with deep grooves or fissures on the biting surfaces of their teeth that do not already have fillings will benefit from dental sealants.

Fees: $20 per person

Scaling

Dental scaling is the removal of hard deposits from the teeth. Dental scaling must be performed by a dentist, dental hygienist or dental assistant with additional training.

Dental Scaling is not part of the polish and fluoride clinics for adult patients.
