Access and privacy

Our team oversees SAIT’s compliance with Alberta’s access to information and privacy legislation, and provides institutional advice on access and privacy matters.

This includes managing the formal access to information request process, coordinating SAIT’s responses to privacy incidents, and providing education and training to members of the SAIT community.

We also develop and implement policies, procedures and process to ensure that SAIT meets its obligations under provincial access and privacy legislation. For more information contact access.privacy@sait.ca.

Our team is committed to developing, reviewing and maintaining policies and procedures that are clear, accessible and current, in order to support the academic, administrative, and operational requirements of the SAIT community.

By providing consistent guidance, fostering transparency, and ensuring alignment with legal and institutional standards, we help create a stable and accountable environment for both students and employees. Policies and procedures

Student appeals

We manage student appeals of academic misconduct decisions in second, third and fourth academic misconduct cases, and student appeals of all non-academic misconduct decisions.

We provide clear, transparent and timely information to students, guide students through the appeal process, work with the Office of the Vice President Academic to manage appeals heard by the Vice President Academic and/or a formal appeal panel, and ensure that appeal proceedings and decisions meet the requirements of procedural fairness. For more information contact student.appeals@sait.ca.

Legislative compliance

Our team manages SAIT’s compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements at the municipal, provincial and federal level. This involves knowing both the current legislation and regulations that apply to SAIT as well as identifying pending and new legislation.

In collaboration with leaders and managers, we identify and help mitigate the risks of legislative non-compliance both to SAIT and to its employees. For more information contact legislative.compliance@sait.ca.

Records management services

We are an institutional resource that guides SAIT’s schools and departments in managing their information through the record lifecycle. We create policies, procedures and processes that support records and information management and we manage SAIT’s Classification Scheme and Retention Schedule.

We help ensure that SAIT’s records - which can be in any medium or format, including digital records and emails – are retained and disposed of in accordance with SAIT’s procedures and with applicable legislation.

For more information contact info.management@sait.ca.

Legal services

Working collaboratively with SAIT’s Contracts and Insurance Services team and with external legal counsel, we help identify and mitigate legal risks to SAIT and we provide support to leaders and managers in difficult situations.

We manage SAIT’s relationships with its external legal counsel in an effective and efficient way, and we are the first point of contact for lawsuits involving SAIT. For more information contact susan.radke@sait.ca.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
