Test day

Your test will be held at the Johnson-Cobbe Energy Centre (building K) on SAIT's Main campus. The room number will be emailed to you two days before the exam.

It's important you're aware of the following before arriving:

  • 🎧 Headphones are available for the listening test.
  • You must bring the original valid ID (PassportPR card or Refugee documents) that you used to book your IELTS test. If you do not have the original valid ID you registered with, you cannot write the test and will lose your exam fee.
  • We will supply pencils, erasers, sharpeners and tissues. Only clear water bottles are allowed in the test room (no labels or words).
  • The test room does not permit electronic devices (cell phones, watches, etc.), coats, hats or purses.
  • We have locked storage for your items during the testing. SAIT assumes no responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen items. Personal items are also checked-in before speaking tests.
  • Please don’t use excessive perfume/cologne, as this might distract other test-takers in the test room.
  • Check weather and transportation reports. It is the test taker's responsibility to arrive on time. Late arrivals will not be admitted and will lose the exam fee.

Getting your results

Computer exams

Your results will be available online within three to five days.

Test takers will receive an email notification to check results online and will be able to download the electronic test report form. The electronic test report form will be stored on the test taker portal for three years after the test date.

Paper exams

Results will be available online 13 days after the exam date. Paper exam test takers will only receive a hard copy test report form; an electronic version is unavailable.

Test report forms are delivered by Canada Post to test takers and institutions. If you want to pick up the letter in person, please email ielts@sait.ca on the exam day. SAIT is not responsible for address errors. If Canada Post returns the form due to an address error, there is a $30 charge for each copy.

Test takers will receive only one hard copy of their test report form and can request up to five free copies to be sent to recognized institutions on the exam date. Each additional copy is $30 afterwards.

If you require an additional copy for immigration to Canada, please be aware that Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) only accept IELTS results submitted by the applicant.

Test report forms are valid for two years after the test date.

Requesting a remark

You may request a remark if you believe your score has an error. You can request an Inquiry on Results directly through your Test Taker portal.

You must request a remark within six weeks of your test date. You may choose one or more test parts to be remarked on. The remarking fee is $200.

If your result is changed to a higher band score, a new test report form (TRF) will be issued, and $175 will be refunded. The administration fee of $25 is non-refundable.

If you apply for a remark, a senior IELTS examiner will remark your test. They will not know your original band scores for each part of the test. Your reviewed results will be available within two to 21 days of applying for a remark.
