How to register
- Sign in to the StarRez Housing portal
- To be eligible to live for residence, youmust maintain a full-time student status (those taking nine or more course credits each semester). If your status drops to part-time status, you will be asked to leave.
- Register your account. If you already have an account, sign in.
- If you cannot remember your password, try “forgot password” or email us at residence@sait.ca. Please do not create another account.
- Select your desired residence term. Please note, multiple terms may be available so please read carefully and select the right term for you.
- Confirm your application and pay the required $100 no refundable application fee and $200 security deposit.
- If you are a returning resident, your application fee will be waved and your security deposit will be held for the next year.
Current residents
If you are currently living in Residence and would like to come back for the next academic year must apply. You will receive an email reminder when the applications are available.
After you apply
If you are approved for residence you will recieve an offical offer of residence in March for fall and summer semesters or November for winter semesters. Please monitor your emails.
To accept your offer you must:
- Review and agree to the Residence Agreement and Residence Community Living Standards
- Complete your profile questions, which are used during roommate matching
- Pay your fee
- Review and select a meal plan (optional)
Paying for residence
Residence fees are separate from your tuition and due in full prior to moving in. Fees can be paid online, over the phone or in person. If you are paying online or over the phone, please note we only accept MasterCard and VISA. Debit is only accepted in person.
Residence does not directly receive funds on your behalf from government student loans, you must pay your fees to residence when you receive your funding. Your loans may not cover your full living expenses so we encourage you to obtain additional financial resources or support

Frequently asked questions
- If you are paying using student loans or a RESP, you are still required to pay one installment of residence fees and the remaining fees when you receive your loans in September.
- You will be required to submit proof of student loans; this can be submitted when it is received, typically in July.
We can work with your sponsor to have your residence fees paid; we just need you to email us with the contact information of your sponsor.
There is no deadline for applications; we accept applications throughout the entire year and send out acceptance offers as spaces become available.

Cancelling your application
If you decide you are no longer want to live in residence, please login to your Housing Hub account to cancel your application and complete all the necessary steps.
Please be sure to check our cancellation deadlines, outlined in the Student Residence Agreement. These are the deadlines we follow when calculating cancellation fees and refunds.
Roommate matching
In late June, the roommate matching portal will open, allowing you to view and communicate with potential roommate matches. To participate in roommate matching, your residence account needs to be in good standing
Once you have selected a roommate (and they have selected you back) you will be assigned to a suite together.
If you do not find a match in the portal, or do not find the correct number of roommates, we will match you to a roommate according to your profile answers.
If there is a specific person you want to live with, we ask that you and your friend email us requesting that you both want to room together. We cannot guarantee that you will be roommates, but we will do our best to arrange roommates who want to live together.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
