Determining whether you are a domestic or international student is very important during the application process. Please review the following criteria before you begin your application.

Apply early
Programs tend to fill up quickly, and due to this we recommend that students apply well in advance.
Before you begin,
- learn more about how to apply and application timelines.
- review your program page to find out when it is offered in fall, winter, or spring.
- make sure you have a valid Visa or MasterCard to pay the online application fee of $120 for domestic students or $150 for international students.
The majority of our programs will start on the term start date(s) listed below with some exceptions — confirm your program start date on the program page admissions tab. If your program starts on a different date, review tuition and fees to find your tuition payment deadline.
Closing dates for applications do not apply to English Language Foundations, Academic Upgrading, or Open Studies.

*In some instances, domestic applications will be accepted after the application deadline. In that case, the program's intake status will remain open.
How to apply on ApplyAlberta
- Create a MyAlberta Digital ID account.
- If you've used ApplyAlberta before Jan. 22, 2019, you'll have a SIAMS (Secure Identity and Access Management System) account.
- After you create a MyAlberta Digital ID account, transfer your current SIAMS account to your newly created MyAlberta Digital ID account. If you can't remember your SIAMS login information, please follow the steps to retrieve your password.
- If you require assistance with your application, please contact ApplyAlberta.
- Enter all information required through ApplyAlberta and you will be directed to the SAIT portion of the application.
- Choose the term you want to start in (fall, winter, etc.), and select your program(s) of choice.
- You have the option to choose two programs on one application.
- The two programs must be the same application type (full-time, full-time evening & weekend, full-time transfer or part-time) and in the same term.
- Choosing two programs for $120 must be done during the same application in ApplyAlberta.
- The first program you choose will be considered your first preference.
- Choose your second preference by selecting Next Program.
- If you only choose one program and submit your application, you must create and pay for a separate application to choose a second program — the second application will automatically be tagged as your second preference.
- Review your application to ensure everything is correct — you are unable to modify your program selection after your application is submitted.
- Complete the application by paying the non-refundable application fee.
You will receive an email approximately three business days after you apply with your SAIT ID number and instructions for next steps.
Application preference
Applications will be assigned a preference determined by the order in which they are received.
- You can select up to two programs per application — both programs must be the same application type and for the same term.
- The first program chosen will be your first preference and the program you select under Next Program will be your second preference.
- Any subsequent application(s) submitted will be considered as your next preference(s).
- If you’re offered a seat in your first preference, all additional applications will be cancelled — if you are waitlisted or declined in your first preference, we will evaluate the next available preference.
- If you submit multiple applications for the same program in the same term, we will review the initial application and delete the rest.
- The order of your preferences cannot be re-prioritized after applications are submitted — review your program choices carefully before you submit an application.
- If you no longer wish to be considered for a program, cancel the application through mySAIT – contact us to cancel your application if it is Confirmed with conditions or Confirmed – full admission.
- The following programs are excluded from application preferences due to the nature of their admission process.
- School of Health and Public Safety programs with Entrance Testing Process
- Bachelor of Applied Business Adminsitration
- Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management
- Academic Upgrading, English Language Foundations and Open Studies programs.

How to apply on SAIT's Virtual Admissions System (VAS)
- Create an account. If you already have an account or if you are an agent sign in here.
- Select Add Application
- Enter all the required information, including:
- your personal information
- academic education/history
- English language assessments, if applicable
- the program(s) you wish to apply for
- Select the desired term first
- Programs are grouped by credential level and delivery mode
- After you complete the application for your preferred program, you have the option to choose a second choice program if your first choice is not available OR you can apply to a second academic program on completion of your first selected program. The Second Academic Program (or bundle) allows you to combine two individual certificate programs into one application.
- Choosing the two programs must be done during the same application before you pay one application fee of $150.
- If you choose only one program and submit your application, you must create and pay for a new application to choose a second program.
- Review your application to ensure everything is correct — you are unable to modify your program selection after your application is submitted.

- Complete the application by paying the non-refundable application fee.
- You will receive an email confirming your application has been received. You can login at https://sait.vasuniverse.com/auth/signin to edit or view your application or to ask questions regarding your application. We will notify you by email as soon as a decision has been made on your application.
Application preference
When you apply to SAIT, you will be able to select up to two programs per application.
- You will be asked which program is your first choice and which is your second during the application process.
- If your first choice program is not available, the application will be cancelled and you will be evaluated for the second choice program only.
- You will be sent an offer letter if there is space in your chosen program AND you have submitted documents or sufficient evidence to prove you will meet the admission requirements.
