SAIT and SAFA ratify new 2024-2028 Collective Agreement

Calgary, AB — The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and the SAIT Academic Faculty Association (SAFA) are pleased to announce the successful ratification of a new Collective Agreement for the 2024-2028 term. This agreement reflects a shared commitment to fostering a supportive and sustainable learning environment that benefits both faculty and students.
“I’m pleased SAIT and SAFA have come to a collective agreement for the 2024-28 term,” said Dr. David Ross, President and CEO of SAIT. “Together, through constructive dialogue and collaboration, we will continue to offer world-class programs and support student success. Many thanks to both bargaining teams for their work at the table.”
The agreement is the result of meaningful negotiations between both parties, addressing key areas of compensation and benefits, while allowing the institution flexibility in responding to growth and student demand for diverse program delivery. SAIT will be hosting divisional Town Halls to share further details and answer any questions from faculty and staff. The Collective Agreement will be posted on the Collective Bargaining page on sait.ca as soon as possible.
“Reaching a deal is always a good thing,” said Blair Howes, SAFA President. “This is the best monetary increase that we’ve had since 2010. Although this doesn’t get us anywhere near to catching up with inflation, we felt that it was best for our members to lock-in guaranteed wage increases with a potential economic downturn on the horizon.”
Details of the new SAIT and SAFA Collective Agreement will be shared with the SAIT community over the coming days. SAIT and SAFA remain committed to maintaining an open and collaborative relationship to support faculty, students, and the broader SAIT community.
