Transforming WHO we teach with SAIT’s Real Futures

SAIT students post in front of window.

SAIT’s Real Futures campaign is about giving students real-world, technology-driven learning experiences for careers in any industry. Across all programs, SAIT is harnessing technological innovations to prepare graduates for high-impact roles in evolving fields.

Industries are adapting to the need for digital change and embracing new technologies differently. Through donor support, SAIT’s Real Futures campaign will transform how, who and what we teach—focusing on the right training at the right time

Technology touches every aspect of a student’s experience at SAIT, regardless of program. Meet three SAIT students on very different career paths and hear what they have to say about how technology is impacting their educational journey.

Taryn Johnston | Plumber

SAIT student Taryn Johnston

“One of the coolest things that I've been presented regarding tech in the plumbing industry is using virtual reality to simulate houses and how that can pertain to things such as estimating, actual construction and being able to visually see how this big project is going to turn out.”

Charisma Fernando | Optician

SAIT student Charisma Fernando.

“We all know the future is unknown, and then with technology, we don't know where it'll go. But the important thing is, SAIT gives you the foundation you need, so that when you go out into that world, whatever it may give you, you are ready.”

Lesi Nwielghi | Information Systems Security

SAIT student Lesi Nwielghi

“For my program technology plays a very big role. Thinking about the new cyber range program coming up in the downtown school, it just helps me to have that hands-on learning experience and be able to develop my skills better.”

TOMORROW’S TALENT, TODAY

The Real Futures campaign will enable SAIT to deliver on the promise to transform who, how and what we teach in response to the changes unfolding across our communities, technologies and economies. With a fundraising target of $150 million, the campaign will assure SAIT’s continued ability to provide the training and skills that industry needs to stay relevant and that students need to thrive, whatever vision of tomorrow they’re working toward.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
