Hack the Planet: Cyber Security Program Capture the Flag Event

As part of SADT’s Cyber Security program, the “Hack the Planet” Capture the Flag event is happening March 20–21, 2026 at SAIT Downtown!

🚩 Your mission

The corporate world has locked down the global backbone, turning the net into a digital cage of surveillance. The underground has found a back door into their mainframe, but we need the world's most elite console cowboys to trigger the logic bomb. Your mission is to infiltrate their encrypted nodes, bypass the firewalls, and capture the flags to restore digital freedom.

🛠️ Technical Requirements

  • 💻 Bring your own laptop – Each participant must have their own laptop to fully participate.
  • 🐧 Install a Linux VM on your laptop – Parrot/Kali are recommended, competing on your laptop host OS is not recommended.
  • 📶 External/USB Wireless Adapter – Bring a compatible external or USB wireless adapter for network-related activities. Most questions do not require this, but it is recommended to complete all challenges.

This event is open to all past and current SAIT students, as well as students from other post-secondary institutions. High school students, alumni, and industry professionals are also welcome to participate.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
