Deanna Stringer is an instructor at SAIT’s School of Hospitality and Tourism, specializing in Restaurant Service and Operations, Beverage Management, Social Media Marketing, and Event Management. Passionate about people and culture, she also serves as an advisor for the HTM Student Association, creating meaningful connections with students beyond the classroom.
In her first two years of teaching, Deanna was nominated by students for the Teaching Excellence Award, reflecting her commitment to inspiring creativity and professional growth. She holds WSET Levels 1 and 2, Barista Certificates Levels 1–4 and has completed the Teaching Excellence Framework and Instructional Skills Workshop. Currently, she is pursuing her WSET Level 3 Certification.
Deanna’s hospitality career began after a gap year of travel sparked her love for service. Moving to Calgary in 2009, she worked her way up from dishwasher to co-owner of UNA Pizza + Wine, managing and opening diverse concepts from breakfast spots to fine dining and nightclubs. Her experience includes hosting major events such as Stampede celebrations and weddings.
Outside SAIT, Deanna remains active in the industry, bartending and serving at events to keep her skills sharp and maintain strong connections within Calgary’s tight-knit restaurant community—benefits she shares with her students. Combining her lifelong passion for teaching with her extensive hospitality background, Deanna brings real-world expertise and energy to every class.
