Life at SAIT
Nathir joined the School of Business in 2023 and teaches Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.
Nathir’s teaching journey has been fueled by an intrinsic passion for self-awareness and helping students find themselves as wholesome individuals. As a passionate instructor, Nathir values continuous improvement, effective communication, and meaningful relationships. Nathir is known to deliver quality classes which include applied learning methodologies and inclusion of new technologies. Above all else, Nathir’s teaching philosophy is garnered around the importance of training students to think effectively.
Outside instruction, Nathir enjoys experimenting with new technologies (often for his classes). He is also a fitness, reading, and chess enthusiast.
Education
Nathir has a master’s in economics from the University of Lethbridge and a bachelor’s in economics, political science and mathematics from the American Lebanese University, Lebanon.
Professional Accomplishments
Nathir has had a variety of industry experiences, including as Economist for the Government of Canada, CEO of a tech startup, and Board Member roles for the Calgary Police Service and other community organizations. He has also worked for the World Bank Group.
Research
Nathir’s research interests include the links between social movements and GDP growth, youth unemployment, skills matching, and entrepreneurship.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
