Life at SAIT

Josh joined the School of Business in 2018 and teaches marketing. As a seasoned instructor, Josh leverages a unique combination of expertise in coaching, exercise physiology and marketing in his classrooms. Josh’s most prized value is a quality work ethic which he role models for his students. As a mentor, Josh embodies a deep desire for growth and creativity, which he believes to be a powerful toolkit for success in complex environments.  
 
Josh’s commitment to growth is evident in his creative and ever evolving teaching practices which he has furnished to reach a broader student audience. For Josh, education involves a healthy blend of critical thinking, having fun, and giving back.  
 
Outside teaching, Josh enjoys going on runs.  

Education

Josh holds an MBA in sports management and bachelor's degrees in commerce and kinesiology from the University of Calgary. His graduate studies focused on management, entrepreneurship, physical education and sports performance. Josh is a Registered Coach with the Coaching Association of Canada. He has taken certificate courses on respect at the workplace, coaching, strategic planning and leading change.  
 
While at the University of Calgary, Joshua was involved with Dino Athletics and the Olympian modern pentathlon as a national athlete. 

Professional accomplishments

Josh has served in manager, coach, consultant and instructor roles for various organizations across the sports and banking sectors. He worked as an RBC Olympian and was their official spokesperson for engagements across the country. He has also delivered trainings for the International Modern Penthalon Union (UPIM). In his industry career, Josh has built expertise in strategy, brand management, communications, and events management. 
 
Josh is an active volunteer and has served in various board and ambassador roles for the Canadian Sports Center Calgary, AthletesCAN, and Penthalon Canada.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
