Life at SAIT

Dr. Paramonov teaches in the BBA and BA Marketing, Management and Supply Chain streams and has been at SAIT since 1998.

Using his wide experience in industry as well as a recognized niche in pedagogical expertise, Dr. Paramonov encourages his students to challenge themselves through experiential learning, case-based analysis, and international dialogue. He has led the X-Culture experiential learning project at SAIT, designed to offer students a unique opportunity to work in global virtual teams and complete consulting projects for multinational companies.

Education

He has a BSc and MSc in Economic Geography and Mathematics and a PhD in Economic Geography and Logistics.

Professional accomplishments

Dr. Paramonov has over thirty years of research, teaching, and consulting experience in North America and the former USSR. His academic activities have resulted in close to forty publications and numerous presentations covering regional economic integration, global value chains, foreign direct investment, marketing channels for industrial products, economic geography, and business education.

His consulting experience involves various projects in international business, regional economic development, higher education, marketing research, feasibility studies and market entry recommendations for small and medium-sized firms and non-profit organizations in the United States, Canada, the Russian Federation and Ukraine. He has conducted academic workshops and professional development seminars for business communities in various countries.

Dr. Paramonov received a grant from the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada to participate in the 1991-1992 Canada-USSR Academic Exchange Program at the University of Western Ontario. In 1996, he was selected by the Fulbright Association for a research and faculty development program at the University of Montana in association with the United States Information Agency. For two academic years, he researched foreign direct investment and taught classes in international business at the School of Business Administration at the University of Montana. Dr. Paramonov has also received awards for teaching excellence, including the Mortar Board’s Professor Award from the University of Montana’s Pentralia Chapter and X-Culture.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
