Life at SAIT

Gerry teaches in the BA and BBA Supply Chain Management stream and has been with SAIT since 2016.

He is a faculty mentor for the SAIT Student Chapter of the Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM). His favourite aspect of teaching is the ability to pay his accrued knowledge and experience ‘forward’ to the upcoming generation of supply chain professionals.

Gerry has contributed to revisions of several courses, including Introduction to Supply Chain Management, to keep content relevant and engaging for students.

Education

He has an MSc in Operations Management specializing in strategic planning, supply chain management and organizational change from the University of Manchester Institute of Technology, UK, and a Diploma in Tech Electronics and Avionics. Gerry is professionally designated as a Certified Logistics Professional and Certified Logistics Transportation and Distribution Professional. He is also green belt certified with Go Lean Six Sigma.

Professional accomplishments

Gerry brings 34 years of industry knowledge into the classroom. He has worked in various leadership roles at leading corporations in Canada, including ATCO Structures and Logistics, GENCO, and Canadian Pacific Logistics Solutions. He has also worked as a Supply Chain and Logistics Officer for the Royal Air Force.

His career, which has seen him do everything from managing critical supply chains for short-supply aerospace parts to overseeing site services for an oil and gas construction project in Alberta’s oilsands, has spanned the globe, from the UK to across Europe, Hong Kong, Norway and, through SAIT, the United Arab Emirates.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
