Life at SAIT
Brian teaches Introductory Financial Accounting I and II and has been with SAIT since August 2022. His dedication to his students is reflected in his teaching ideology and practices. Brian is the first to help students develop new skills, expand their horizons, and help prepare for the future, regardless of the direction they may head in.
His biggest advice for students is to keep an open mind, embrace the challenges that come their way, and always keep the big picture at the forefront of your vision. Having fun along the way, being kind to yourself, and knowing that your instructors are here to support you are additional messages to remember.
Education
Brian has a Professional Communications Essential certificate, a BBA in Accounting and Economics and an MBA in Strategic Business Management. He finished his MBA degree magna cum laude at KU Leuven in Belgium in 2020. During his MBA, he wrote a thesis on the impact of environmental, social, and governmental controversies and financial performance. He also worked on projects that looked at marketing planning and strategic management simulations. His current research interests include the use of artificial intelligence in accounting and auditing as well as group-based learning techniques.
Professional accomplishments
He was a Senior Accountant for Avisar Business Advisory Group and a Designated Professional for MNP LLP. He is professionally designated as a CPA.
He moved to Calgary from British Columbia, where he previously taught at the University of the Fraser Valley. Brian has used his accounting, tax, financial reporting and business strategy background to help countless businesses enhance their financial and operational performance.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
