Janelle has a background in social work and Indigenous community programming, Janelle is passionate about creating a student experience that feels safe, culturally connected, and genuinely supportive.

Janelle works alongside students to help them access resources, find their voice, and feel a sense of belonging on campus. She values real conversations, humour, and meeting people where they’re at. Outside of her role, Janelle is a mom and an advocate for community care and Indigenous wellness.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
