City of Calgary water main break

SAIT continues to observe the City of Calgary’s stage four water restrictions.

Repair work on the water main break is ongoing, and the City has asked Calgarians to reduce their water consumption.

SAIT is taking the following measures to reduce water consumption on campus:

  • Deferring maintenance, inspections and repairs requiring water
  • Reducing use of auto-scrubbers
  • Reviewing sensors and batteries on automatic-flush toilets
  • Shutting off continual-flush urinals in the Senator Burns Building
  • Confirming that no high-water-use construction activities are occurring at the Taylor Family Campus Centre site.

You are encouraged to be mindful of water use in your daily routines to support city-wide conservation efforts. The top three ways to save water are:

  • Reduce toilet flushing. Only flush when needed.
  • Keep showers to three minutes or less.
  • Only run the washing machine and dishwasher on full loads.

Thank you for your assistance in complying with the City’s guidelines for stage four water restrictions. It is essential the community works together to help ensure there is enough water available for drinking, fire-fighting and other essential needs.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
