Working while studying is a great way to gain experience, build skills, and earn income. Join representatives from Alberta's Employment Standards and Temporary Foreign Worker Advisory Office (TFWAO) to learn about your rights and responsibilities in the workplace and the support available to international students.
In this session, you'll learn about:
- Employment standards in Alberta, including wages, hours of work, overtime, and vacation pay
- Employee rights and employer responsibilities
- How to recognize and address unfair, unsafe, or unhealthy working conditions
- Resources and support available to international students with work authorization
- Where to go for help if you have questions or concerns about your workplace

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
