Building creativity: GBT packs shoe boxes for Operation Christmas ChildDecember 16, 2015
The holidays are fast approaching. To get into the spirit, the Green Building Technologies team started a new tradition this year - packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. The team packed five boxes for kids aged ten to fourteen.
"We want to support building, creativity and entrepreneurship with some of the gifts we chose to give this year," said GBT researcher Rebecca Davidson, who explained how they chose items such as screwdrivers, sewing kits, coloured pencils, beads and string. "The rest of the gifts are meant to meet their basic needs and wants, and also to ensure they would have some fun."
Davidson said the team hopes to continue the tradition, and maybe next year volunteer as a team at one of the sorting centres.
