Foundations in Commercial Carpentry Youth

Overview

Learn foundational skills and knowledge in wood trades in this residential and furniture-focused hands-on carpentry program.

Carpenters work in many areas of construction, including residential, commercial, industrial and maintenance projects. Most carpenters are involved in reading blueprints, selecting materials and methods of work, measuring, cutting and joining materials.

Is this the right fit for me?

This program is for students in Grade, 10, 11 or 12 who:

• enjoy working with computers; and
• are considering a career relating to construction, carpentry and/or other wood trades.

Program length

Foundations in Commercial Carpentry is offered over one semester and requires a commitment of four afternoons on the SAIT campus throughout the program.
