Dual-Credit Management

Overview

Build foundational knowledge of business functions including management, human resources, marketing and finance. Explore options for starting and growing a business, the importance of business ethics and social responsibility and work through the basic steps of building a business and career plan.

In this course students will learn essential business knowledge, professional skills, and critical thinking. The Introduction to Business course provides you with tools to understand business functions including management, human resources, marketing, supply chain and personal finance. You will explore the Canadian business system and environment, and the importance of business ethics. The course examines strategies for effective teamwork and provides opportunities to practice these strategies.

Students will explore options for starting and growing a business and the importance of business ethics and social responsibility in an increasingly global environment. Students will also have the opportunity to apply creative solutions to real-world problems by working through the basic steps of building a business plan and personal career plan.

As the majority of this course will be completed online, students will require access to a reliable internet connection and a computer.

This program is the right fit for students in Grade 11 who:

  • are interested in pursuing further post-secondary education or a career in business and are looking for a broad overview of areas such as human resources, accounting and marketing
  • enjoy working in a collaborative group environment;
  • are comfortable independently completing online coursework.

Admission requirements

Students should be entering grade 11 or in the same academic year as they begin MNGT-200.

In order to be successful in this SAIT program, students are recommended to be on track to successfully pass the following courses or equivalents:

  • At least 60% in English Language Arts 30-1
  • At least 60% in Math 30-1 pr Pure Math 30; or 70% in Math 30-2

There may be other pre-requisite or co-requisites required by the school board for admission into this dual-credit program. Check with your local school board for further information.

To qualify for graduation from SAIT, students must pass all courses, attain a CGPA of 2.0 or better and complete the course requirements within the prescribed timelines.
