Early Alert program

Sometimes on the path to success at school, you hit a bump in the road. Whether the bump is academic, personal or just a feeling that somethings off, SAIT has a community of support resources that can help.

Early Alert is a referral system a referral can take place anytime during your studies. Its a way for your instructors to connect you to the right support resources before those little bumps turn into major struggles. You can also refer yourself or connect with support resources directly.

Students supported by an Early Alert system are less likely to be on academic probation and more likely to improve their academic performance and well-being.

If you have questions about the program, contact us by email at early.alert@sait.ca or phone 403.774.4773.

Complete the Early Alert self-referral form. If your instructor notices you might need a little support they'll submit a referral on your behalf.

Early Alert is entirely confidential and governed by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). Referrals will never impact your academic record or transcripts.

Remember! A referral isn't necessary to access student resources on campus.

After a referral has been made, youll hear from us by email. When you respond, we'll set up an appointment. If we dont hear from you, well try you by phone.

The appointment is your time to talk and ask questions. We'll listen and connect you to the right resources.

After we meet, we'll also email you a list of the resources we talked about and any additional info we think might be useful.

We'll check in to make sure you have all the support you need.

Academic probation support

If your Grade Point Average (GPA) falls below 2.0 you’ll be notified by the Office of the Registrar that you're on academic probation.

Track your grades

Knowing your grades is important for monitoring your academic success. Use our interactive grade calculator to track your progress and find out more about understanding your grades.

Back on Track workshop

Being notified you’re on academic probation is an opportunity to make a change for the better — and a great time to check in with supports on campus.

Register for the Back on Track workshop

This workshop will help you understand what academic probation means, plus you’ll:

  • take a look at what didn’t go well last semester — did you have distractions outside of school, is your classroom environment creating challenges, did your study plan not pan out, etc.
  • learn about grades and how to track to them
  • discover new learning strategies and increase your confidence
  • identify your next steps and make a plan to move forward.

When you register, you'll receive a confirmation email with workshop content.
