Training preparation courses for apprentices

Discover your learning style, develop memory techniques, learn effective ways to conquer your modules, get tips on how to write multiple choice tests and prepare for your apprenticeship exam.
PREP 145 is mandatory for all SAIT apprentices. You must complete the course by the end of the first week of training.

|Aug. 24||Saturday||9 am - 4 pm|
|Sept. 3 and 5||Tuesday and Thursday||6 - 9 pm|
*Please note registration for sessions closes two business days before the course date.
The PREP 145 course fills quickly so reserve your spot as soon as possible and make sure to have your SAIT ID number ready.
MATH 145: Math Prep for Apprentices (recommended)
Build your fundamental math skills in algebra and geometry with this free course for apprentices. MATH 145 includes 18 hours of in-class instruction offered over six sessions.
|Aug. 13 - 29||Tuesdays and Thursdays||6 - 9 pm|
Math and reading skills assessment
Take our free online math skills assessment quiz and/or reading skills assessment quiz to check your current skill level. Based on the results, we can give you suggestions for what else you can do to prepare for training.
Paying for your apprenticeship
A variety of financial supports are available to help you plan ahead and cover the costs associated with your training. Find out more about paying for your apprenticeship — tuition and fees, financial aid options, grants and awards, Employment Insurance, and more.
Get your class schedule
Log into mySAIT using your SAIT ID number and date of birth to access your schedule and room locations. Your complete schedule will be available two business days prior to your first day of classes.
Get your student ID card
Get your SAIT ID card after you’re registered in classes. Your tuition must be paid in full or student loan funding must be confirmed.
Your ID card lets you access facilities and services across campus, including the Reg Erhardt Library, Wellness Centre and student health services. You also need the card to get your UPass, locker and more.
Accessibility and accommodations
Connect with an Accessibility Services advisor as soon as possible if you need to set up a classroom accommodation or get support for a health condition or disability while you’re an apprentice. They can also help with funding applications for adaptive equipment, services and technology.
Books and modules
You can find your booklist online and at the SAIT Bookstore. We recommend waiting until your first class before purchasing your books. Don’t buy modules ahead of time as they might be outdated by the time you attend classes and they cannot be returned to the bookstore.
Apply for residence
Two modern highrises boast four different floor plans with fully furnished units, individual liability leases and utilities included. Find out more about living on campus in SAIT Residence.
Rent a locker
After you see your schedule and know where your classes will be held, rent a locker online if you think you'll need one. You'll need your student ID number, a valid email address, and a credit card or PayPal account to rent a locker.
