A SAIT graduate who leveraged his diploma in architectural technologies into opportunities that embrace tech innovation, Amos Ngai is now transforming students to lead Alberta’s digital revolution through the School for Advanced Digital Technology.
After earning his undergraduate degree in urban planning at the University of Calgary, Ngai attended SAIT, graduating in 2006 and launching a career working for Calgary firms on commercial and residential projects.
While initially working in commercial construction design, including for the massive South Health Campus, Ngai pivoted to information technology to address some of the hospital’s requirements — a move that would ultimately have him working in IT project management.
While still in the field, Ngai took a part-time instructor position for SAIT’s continuing education program, teaching for four years before becoming an associate dean at Bow Valley College where he built and launched that institution’s School of Technology.
He returned to SAIT’s campus in 2019 — after earning a Master's of Education from the University of Calgary — to oversee the development and delivery of Information and Communication Technologies programming and then, in 2022, took on a role developing programming for the School for Advanced Digital Technology. As Associate Dean for the school, Ngai provides leadership and support in the programming areas of cybersecurity, data analytics, artificial intelligence and creative technologies.
