National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
Each year, Canada remembers the lives of the 14 women murdered in an act of gender-based violence at Polytechnique Montréal on December 6, 1989 on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Members of the SAIT community are encouraged to visit the first floor of Senator Burns on Friday, December 5th, from 10 am - 1 pm to learn more about this important day, pick up a white ribbon to show their support for ending violence against women in Canada and write a letter of support for survivors of gender-based violence.
Members of the community unable to attend this event can also visit Heritage Hall AA125 on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, or Thursday, December 4th, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, to pick up a white ribbon and write their own letter of support.
Please contact SAIT's Sexual Violence Program Coordinator and Educator at svprogram@sait.ca if you have any questions about this event.
Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.
SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
