Records & Procedures

During your time as an apprentice, it is your responsibility to complete the requirements of your trade and track your progress — all while upholding SAIT's student code of conduct and other policies.

Apprenticeship Record Book (Blue Book)

When you register with Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT), you'll get a record book (Blue Book) to help you keep track of:

  • hours worked
  • apprenticeship hour credits
  • your most recent employers
  • the hours required for exam eligibility.

Make your Blue Book available to your journeyperson supervisor as required. When you complete a period of your apprenticeship, return the record book to the nearest AIT office for a certificate of progress. When your record book is returned to you, you are eligible for an increase in the minimum apprentice wage rate for your trade.

For details the responsibilities of the apprentice, AIT, and the employer, read the Apprenticeship Handbook.
