Entrance Awards

Entrance awards are designated for students who are beginning a new program in the upcoming fall. In some instances, they are program-specific and in others, students in all programs may apply.

Please note that you must be registered for your classes before completing all the application sections.

Alumni & Development and the Student Awards office are pleased to offer select awards for new SAIT students who are starting their programs in January 2023.

To be considered, please sign in to mySAIT to complete an online application available from November 4, 2022, until December 15, 2022.

For a student entering their program who is an Alberta resident, demonstrates financial need and exhibits academic achievement. They must have attended the last year of high school in Alberta and have relocated more than 100 km to attend SAIT. To qualify for this award, they must not have received a certificate, diploma or degree from a post-secondary institution.

For a student entering their program who is an Alberta resident with documented disabilities where additional expenses are not covered by government funding. Criteria:

For recent high school graduates from Calgary and surrounding area who demonstrate financial need and an interest in continuing their education at SAIT (apprenticeship not eligible). They must outline their community involvement, career planning, success in high school, and must not have any previous post-secondary education.

To qualify for renewal of award, recipients must be in good academic standing, complete Lamb Learner Success Centre requirements and continue to demonstrate eligibility under the criteria outlined above.

Applications are accepted year-round but students are encouraged to apply early. Applications are reviewed on a regular basis. Please contact bissett.bursary@sait.ca with any questions.

Criteria:

This award works to remove financial barriers for racialized students.  The successful candidate will be a student entering their program who demonstrates financial need, community involvement and exhibits academic achievement from high school.  The student must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and identifies as black.  Preference will be given to a candidate who is pursuing post-secondary education for the first time (does not have a previous credential) and/or a student with a documented disability.
