Fall 2021 update

Sunny SAIT Campus

SAIT President and CEO shares plans for fall reopening

The Government of Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan announcement is both positive and encouraging. This confident step in reopening the province is welcome news for us all.

I’m pleased to say our planning and preparation for an increase in students, classes and activities on campus for the fall aligns well with the government’s stages of reopening. Our priority for September is students and ensuring we have the necessary services on campus to meet their needs. VPs are working with leaders to assess which service teams, or portions of those teams, will be needed physically on campus for September. As I have said in the past, employees working in areas that are not front facing, or directly connected to student delivery or service, can likely expect to continue working from home into the fall.

Delivery of spring and summer programs for 2021 will not change, they will continue as is. Our focus is on preparing for September. We are communicating to students they should be in Calgary and ready for the first day of class. Given the past year, we do realize things can change which may bring about uncertainty and cause stress. We are in the process of reviewing a recommended timeline that outlines the stages if changes were to occur.

We remain focused on the success of our students and providing them the best experience and most versatile education possible. As well, the health and safety of our SAIT community remains our top priority and all current COVID-19 safety protocols are still in place. We’ve communicated often that we should be doing everything we can to end this pandemic, which includes as many of us as possible receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccinations allow us to better ensure we remain safe. The more members of the SAIT community vaccinated, the better for us all.

Thank you for your continued good work and patience as we work through the details.
