From convocation to career
SAIT sees increase in graduate employment stats
SAIT grads are in demand with an average of 90% of the class of 2017 at work. In fact, there are now 17 programs at SAIT with 100% employment.
Through our annual survey, graduates of 2017 were asked to gauge their employment status. Among the results, the survey found that overall 90% of last year's graduates are working, up three percentage points from 2016. Additionally, 77% of those graduates have found employment in their field, an improvement of eight percentage points from 2016.
"These results are encouraging and are testament to SAIT's promise to ensure our students are set up for success by providing relevant, real-world training in unique, applied-learning environments," says Brad Donaldson, SAIT Vice President, Academic.
"Our graduates hit the ground running with the skills they need to make a difference. They are the best, brightest and most adaptable and their SAIT education gives them an advantage over the competition."
The next step
This is particularly good news for the 1,200 new students attending SAIT Start - a fun and informative welcome event for incoming students, enabling them to begin their journey at on campus with confidence in the fall.
"SAIT's unique combination of theoretical and applied-learning was instrumental in helping me develop the skills and confidence to be a competent, reliable operator at Syncrude," says Kevin O'Brien, 2018 Power Engineering Technology graduate, SAIT MacPhail School of Energy. "SAIT provided me with the knowledge, opportunity and industry connections that are so valuable to any new graduate entering the field in which they have been trained. I can say with pride I wouldn't be the operator I am today if it weren't for SAIT."
Celebrate with our grads
The next cohort of SAIT graduates is getting ready to cross the stage June 12 to 14. Tune in to a live stream of convocation and join our students as they mark this milestone.
