SAIT throws the Doors Open for YYC
Calgary, AB - Calgarians get to peek behind-the-scenes at a variety of city venues this weekend as Doors Open YYC kicks off for the third year. SAIT is pleased to pull back the curtain on two locations: the Art Smith Aero Centre and the downtown Culinary Campus.
The Art Smith Aero Centre - which opened 10 years ago - includes a 21,000 square foot hangar that can accommodate a 737-700. Not often open to the public, Doors Open visitors will be able to check out seven airplanes and five helicopters that more than 200 students learn on. Instructors will be on hand to answer questions from the public as they explore the facility.
For culinary enthusiasts, SAIT's downtown Culinary Campus is the perfect stop on a Doors Open adventure. Chef instructors will be hosting cooking demonstrations in the state-of-the-art facility on Saturday only, at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. A living classroom, the Culinary Campus opened in 2012 to allow students to interact with the public and gain invaluable real-world experience.
"SAIT has a huge range of programs that help launch exciting careers," says Melanie Simmons, Public Relations Specialist at SAIT and member of the Doors Open YYC marketing committee. "Doors Open YYC is the perfect opportunity for Calgarians to explore two state-of-the-art training facilities at sites off our main campus, and get a peek inside the worlds of food and flight."
