Life at SAIT

For several years, Doug developed an online learning curriculum and mentored fellow instructors in the use of a Learning Management System (LMS) called Brightspace.

During the pandemic, Doug produced many videos on his YouTube channel to assist his students in trade math.

Education

Doug graduated from SAIT in 1993, receiving a Red Seal in Plumbing/Gasfitting.

Recently, Doug also completed another Red Seal endorsement in Gasfitting Class B.

Doug has received many accolades over the years at SAIT, including the Saitsa Instructor Award.

Doug has been married for 30 years and has two wonderful adult children.

His passion for learning and student success drives a motivation to see things through. When not in class or working on projects, you'll find him on a golf course, hiking trail, or traveling to new places.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
