Board of Governors
SAIT became a Board-Governed Institute April 1, 1982, and operates under the authority of the Post-Secondary Learning Act/Statutes of Alberta 2003 Chapter P-19.5 (effective as of March 18, 2004).
The Board is the permanent governing body of SAIT and makes and administers policy. The Board sets the mission for SAIT, is accountable and responsible for the educational and financial governance of SAIT, and is responsive to the needs of the communities SAIT serves.
Meeting and minutes
Board meetings are open to the public, with the exception of closed and in-camera sessions. Minutes of all open meetings are available to the public.
If you wish to attend any of the open meetings, please contact the Office of the Board of Governors to confirm your attendance 24 hours prior to the meeting.

The Board of Governors of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology was established under the authority of the Technical Institutes Act, as amended, of the Province of Alberta (O.C. 406/82, March 31, 1982).
"A Board subject to this Act has the power to manage and control the Institute and its property, revenue, business and affairs. It shall determine the general policies with respect to the organization, administration and operation of the Technical Institute and the courses or programs of instruction or training provided by the Board."
The Mandate and Roles document for the Board of Governors of SAIT has been developed collaboratively between the Minster of Advanced Education and Technology and the Board to reflect a common understanding of respective roles and responsibilities.
