S.T.A.R event series - Truth and Reconciliation through an intercultural lens

How interdepartmental collaboration is furthering SAIT’s response to the 94 Calls to Action

Truth and Reconciliation, Community and Belonging, and Internationalization efforts sometimes share a complicated relationship. However, intercultural competence offers the potential to serve as a productive nexus of collaboration through which all three focus areas can work together in parallel to achieve shared outcomes.

In this session, we will highlight the ways Indigenous Engagement, Community and Belonging and the International Centre are further SAIT’s response to the TRC 94 Calls to Action by fostering intercultural exchange and understanding.

Join us to celebrate successful initiatives from the past year and find out ways to get more involved in Indigenization efforts.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
