S.T.A.R Event Series - Tipi Storytelling
SAIT accepted a traditional Tsuut’ina painted Tipi on August 20, 2025, and a Pipe Ceremony and Feast followed the Tipi setup. Thanks to the many students who helped the Starlight family and Natoysopoyiis & Office of Indigenous Engagement teams unveil our new beautiful Tipi.
The Starlight Family from the Tsuut’ina Nation guided us on planning and cooking the Feast, and the etiquette that is required when inside the Tipi: overly loud opinions shift the energy of the Tipi, and the inside of the Tipi is a home and should be cared for like our own homes. The Tipi design represents the Mountains along the bottom of the Tipi (this same design is also at the bottom of the windows in Natoysopoyiis), the yellow, red, and blue stripes represent Winter colors, making our Tipi a Winter Tipi and the first SAIT Tipi with our Catalyst logo-design.
Join us for a sharing circle in the Tipi for a storytelling session.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.
SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
