February 2021 LibLights: Online Chat Reference Service
With walk-in assistance unavailable because of COVID-19, helping patrons virtually is more important than ever before. Have you ever had a quick question that you need an answer to? Are you working on an assignment and not sure how a source should be cited? Want to learn more about the Library and our resources? Then “Chat with us” today!
The Reg Erhardt Library’s Chat Reference service lets you “talk” online with reference staff who can
- answer questions and assist you with your research projects
- help you find valuable online library resources that will work best for you
- provide in-depth research and citation assistance
- and more!
Since November, we have been asking our Chat users to participate in a Library Chat Feedback Survey with the goal of continuously improving our services. This was one response we received:
“The librarian who helped me was very nice - they were able to help me find the article I needed to complete an assignment for a class.”
With chat currently being our main gateway to library communication, this survey aims to ensure our standards are still being met in a remote and online context. We asked and we heard you loud and clear: you love chatting with us!
“I am beyond impressed and thankful. The amount of help this librarian was able to provide me with and support was beyond my expectations. I would recommend them to anyone who asked me for help. 10000/10. Thank you so much for all the help!!! “
The survey is scheduled to run until the end of April 2020 and our chat service is currently available from (hours subject to change):
- Monday – Friday 9am to 7pm
- Saturday & Sunday Closed
We’re always looking to improve and this graphic below provides you with more data on our Chat Reference Service and shows our continued commitment to our students, faculty and staff.
