Life at SAIT
With this wealth of carpentry knowledge under his belt, Mr. Hyatt has been teaching Carpentry at SAIT since 2013 helping students reach their full potential.
Education
In 1983, Marvin began his career as a carpenter and soon became a certified Journeyman Red Seal Carpenter in 1987, winning several awards along the way.
He has also taken restoration courses for buildings damaged by floods or fires.
Professional accomplishments
Marvin Hyatt is an experienced tradesperson and teacher with over 40 years of experience in the carpentry trade.
He established his own business in 1985, where he gained extensive knowledge and expertise across many areas of carpentry such as turn-key home building, renovations, finishing, farm buildings, commercial construction projects, restoration of buildings damaged by floods or fire, and more.
Fun facts
In his free time, Marvin finds joy and satisfaction in exploring backcountry terrain, discovering new places, and uncovering hidden vistas alike! Doing so comes with plenty of health benefits due to increased exposure to outdoor activities and fresh air; not only that but it often leads to an enhanced appreciation for our environment and helps him reconnect on a deeper level with himself too!
Marvin is also an active member of the community, volunteering at a local organization.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
