Life at SAIT 

Ahmed joined the School of Business in 2024 as a Macroeconomics instructor. He utilizes a teaching approach grounded in organization, consistency, self-reflection, and growth. New to the School, Ahmed feels privileged to work alongside supportive colleagues open to collaboration both within and beyond the classroom. With a diverse background spanning across 4 industry sectors, Ahmed draws on these experiences to inform his teaching, focusing on open communication, problem-solving, building impactful relationships, and embracing diversity.

Education 

Ahmed earned a fully funded MBA with distinction from Liverpool John Moores University, UK, where he received the Roscoe International Award for outstanding achievements in education. In Canada, he pursued another master's in finance from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, where he was awarded the Geoffrey H. Wood Foundation MSc Award and the Michael Durland Fellowship. Ahmed’s undergraduate studies were in business administration (finance specialization) from East West University, Bangladesh.

Professional Accomplishments 

Ahmed brings a wealth of international experience across diverse industries and roles, including positions as a trainer, strategist, and banking professional for various telecommunications, banking, consumer goods, and digital advertising firms. His extensive skill set encompasses strategy, training, customer service, high-level analysis, consulting, digital marketing, and stakeholder management.

Before joining SAIT, Ahmed taught at Queen’s University and Bangladesh University of Professionals. His academic expertise extends beyond teaching to curriculum development, student advising, and consultation. With eight years of university teaching experience, he has honed his ability to manage both online and in-person classes, engaging a diverse blend of students from various socio-cultural backgrounds and prioritizing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

Research 

Ahmed’s research interests include asset pricing, corporate governance, behavioral finance, and ESG. He has published works in reputable journals and has also presented at multiple national and international conferences.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
