New bursary celebrates SAIT milestone with an alumni advantage
The Alumni for Alumni Bursary supports skills renewal in an evolving economy through funding for continuing education and professional studies.
On Tuesday, Nov. 17, SAIT announced the creation of a new $250,000 bursary accessible exclusively to SAIT graduates — Alumni for Alumni Bursary—Celebrating a Quarter Million.
The bursary celebrates a special milestone at SAIT — an alumni family now 250,000 graduates strong — and provides funding for training to alumni through SAIT’s new Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Studies.
Bursary funding was allocated from SAIT’s alumni TD Insurance Meloche Monnex affinity partnership. The affinity partnership — a program for alumni, grown by alumni — currently supports a variety of alumni activities and programs.
“This bursary was grown by our alumni community, so it’s fitting the money will directly support them,” said Dr. David Ross, SAIT President and CEO. “SAIT is committed to being a lifelong learning partner for our alumni. Whether it’s reskilling or reinventing, with career-ready programs through SAIT, we believe our alumni will continue to drive the growth of our city, province and economy.”
The Government of Alberta has matched the funds with an additional $250,000, bringing the total bursary to $500,000.
The Minister of Advanced Education, Demetrios Nicolaides says, “We are pleased to recognize this milestone by matching SAIT’s funding to establish a new scholarship for alumni. This one-time scholarship will allow alumni to enroll in classes to hone their existing skills or learn something new entirely, and set themselves up for success.”
The alumni advantage
As students, SAIT graduates learned and earned the skills needed for a strong start in their careers and to make a difference in our city, country and around the world.
Since 1916, a quarter million SAIT graduates have made their mark as community builders, industry leaders, visionaries, trailblazers, entrepreneurs and innovators.
Through booms and busts, and global pandemics, SAIT alumni have also become a network that supports one another.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
