SAIT snags its seventh Alberta Top Employer title
SAIT has been named one of Alberta's Top Employers once again.
Winners of this year's competition were announced today by Mediacorp Canada Inc., who organizes the annual Canada's Top 100 Employers project. Top Employers are chosen based on a broad list of criteria including training and skills development, financial benefits and compensation, physical working environment and employee communications.
Being named Top Employer is a direct result of SAIT's hard working employees and institutional People Plan — which help SAIT attract and retain the best of the best.
This is true not only this year, but seven out of the past eight years thanks to an emphasis on growing and improving the employee experience — for example, by focusing on employee engagement and collaboration.
"Incorporating valuable feedback from our employees into our daily actions is one way SAIT is creating a lasting positive working environment," says Brandie Yarish, Associate Vice President of Employee Services. "The amount of collaboration across the institute and number of our people who work towards a shared mission and vision is a big part of why we have consistently received this designation."
Top Employer means top educational experience for students
While being named an Alberta's Top 70 Employer means SAIT is able to attract and retain great employees, it also means we're able to provide a great student experience — SAIT's top priority — by having the right people in the right place to serve students in the best way possible.
"Employee success translates into student success" says Yarish. "By making SAIT such a great place to work, our people also make SAIT a great place to learn, which is why our students go on to become movers and shakers in the community as in-demand graduates."
Thanking staff for their daily grind
Congratulation teams delivered special mugs to SAIT staff at both the main campus and all three satellite campuses to invite them to celebrate the win by bringing their mugs for a special coffee break Wednesday.
"Today's event celebrates our staff," says Dr. David Ross, President and CEO of SAIT. "It celebrates the positivity, dedication and motivation they bring to work each day - our staff are what make SAIT an exceptional place to work and study."
