Technical Support for Staff
Find staff resources and technical support for email passwords, resets, mySAIT, download information, VPN access, eduroam wireless access and printing services at SAIT.
Setting and changing passwords
Please note: Changing the password used to log in to SAIT computers will also change the password used to connect to SAIT wireless and SAIT email.
- Log in to a SAIT computer or ensure you are connected to GlobalProtect VPN remotely
- Your computer login username will be your domain (acdm or admn) followed by your computer login ID – The first letter of your first name, and up to 7 digits of your last name – Ex: ACDM domain, John Smith would be acdm\jsmith
- When you can see the Windows desktop, press CTRL + ALT + DEL
- Click the option Change Password
- Type your old password in the first box. Type your new password in the other two boxes
- Click the Confirm Arrow →
- Your SAIT email password, computer account password, VPN password and SAIT wireless password are now updated
Please note: Changing your mySAIT password will also change your Brightspace (D2L) password.
- Go to mySAIT
- On the mySAIT tab, click on Change your mySAIT.ca password/PIN
- Select Change PIN
- Enter your current password in the Enter old PIN box, and your new password in the Enter New PIN and Re-enter New PIN boxes. Click Change PIN
- Your mySAIT and Brightspace (D2L) passwords are now updated
If you have issues logging into mySAIT and Brightspace (D2L) or have forgotten the password:
- Click on the Forgot Password link under the Login button
- Enter your SAIT staff ID number with leading zeros (for example 000123456) and click the Forgot PIN? button
- Answer the security question and click on Submit
- Enter the new password in the New PIN and Re-enter new PIN boxes. Click on the Reset PIN
- Your mySAIT and Brightspace (D2L) passwords are now updated.
Note: You must create a security question before attempting to reset using this method.
- Go to outlook.office365.com
- Type you SAIT email and click Forgot Password under the login field
- Enter your SAIT email address and the text in captcha image. Click on the Next button
- Answer the Security question or phone number configured in your account
- On the next page, if you received a text or call with a verification code, enter it in the box. Click Next
- Enter your new password in the two boxes. Click Finish
- Your SAIT email password, computer account password, VPN password and SAIT wireless password is now updated
Email, wireless and VPN access
As a SAIT staff/faculty member, you can access your SAIT email address through the Microsoft Office portal from any internet browser or download the Microsoft Outlook app for any smartphone (iOS and Android).

There are two ways to access your SAIT email and Office 365 apps.
Sign in through mySAIT or Office 365
Login to mySAIT.ca and select SAIT Email, or go to Outlook.office365.com and click Sign in.
- On the following screen enter your SAIT email address and click Next
- Then enter your password and click Sign In
- Typically, your email is your firstname.lastname@sait.ca and your account password should have been provided to you by your Department Account Representative/Program Coordinator during Onboarding.
Note: In some cases, there is already a staff member with the same name
- When this happens, your email address may contain extra characters
- To find your actual SAIT email address, log in to mySAIT.ca
- Select Personal Information - your SAIT email address will be listed.
Sign in through sait.ca
- Open a web browser and go to sait.ca or use login.microsoft.com
- On the top right-hand corner of the webpage, hover your mouse over the login button, then click on the email option that appears in the drop-down menu
- On the new page, click use another account option if there is another email that is not your email address. If not, enter your SAIT email address on the right side of the page — for staff, your email is your first and last name followed by @sait.ca
- Enter your SAIT computer login password
- Click the sign-in button
- Click on your SAIT email address on the right-hand side, enter your password if applicable
- To access your email, click on the Mail app

Connecting to your SAIT email from an Apple device:
- Download the Microsoft Outlook app from the App Store
- Open the Outlook app on your device
- Select Get Started
- Enter your SAIT staff email address in the format firstname.lastname@sait.ca and select Add Account
- Enter your SAIT computer login/email password. Note: your account password should have been provided to you by your Department Account Representative/Program Coordinator during Onboarding.
- Select Sign In, Select Skip if the Add Another Account screen appears
- You will now be able to access your SAIT email through your Apple device
As a SAIT staff/faculty member, you can access your SAIT email address through the Microsoft Office portal from any internet browser or download the Microsoft Outlook app for any smartphone (iOS and Android).
Connecting to your SAIT email from an Android device:
- It is recommended that you download the Microsoft Outlook app from the Google Play Store
- Open the Outlook app on your device
- Select Get Started
- Enter your SAIT staff email address in the format firstname.lastname@sait.ca
- Enter your SAIT computer login/email password. Note: your account password should have been provided to you by your Department Account Representative/Program Coordinator during Onboarding.
- Select Sign In, Select Skip if the Add Another Account screen appears
- You will now be able to access your SAIT email through your Android device
Wi-Fi
Please refer to the Network and Wi-Fi Access page to find information on connecting to the eduroam network.
VPN
If you require access to the SAIT internal network and have local admin rights on your computer, you can now download and install the new GlobalProtect VPN client. If you do not have local admin rights on your computer, please contact ITS.Support@sait.ca.

Windows: Users with local admin rights
If you can make administrative changes to your device, such as downloading new software, use these instructions to install the GlobalProtect VPN client.
1. Launch any browser.
2. Log in to https://portal.sait.ca with your SAIT login (not your SAIT email address).
3. Click Download Windows 64 bit GlobalProtect Agent hyperlink.
4. Do not click Run. Click Save or Save As, depending on your browser:
Edge and Internet Explorer:
Chrome:
Downloads automatically get saved to your Downloads folder. Click on ‘Show in Folder’ (bottom left of screen).
Firefox:
Click Save File. The msi installer will get saved to your Downloads folder.
You can also click the down arrow at the top left and click the folder icon.
Double click on the msi to install.
6. Click Next to start the installation.
7. Click Yes to the User Access Control prompt.
8. Click Next to confirm the installation
9. Click Close when the installation is complete.
10. Open the GlobalProtect app from the taskbar (grey circle icon).
GlobalProtect application opens.
11. Enter the portal address portal.sait.ca (this only needs to be done once during your first connection). Do NOT enter https:// in this window.
Sign in using your computer login credentials.
For SAIT students: acdm\studentID (without leading zeros, same as student computer login). eg. acdm\123456
For SAIT staff: domain \ username (same as staff computer login). eg. acdm\jdoe
You are now connected to the SAIT internal network.
Please contact ITS.Support@sait.ca if you experience any issues (account lockout/password expire/etc.).
Ensure you are connected to the VPN first.
Windows 7:
Select Start — My Computer — right-click “Map a Network Drive”
Windows 10:
Select Start — This PC — right-click “Map a Network Drive”
Drive Path (your O:drive, copy + paste): \\acdm.ds.sait.ca\rootdfs or \\admn.ds.sait.ca\rootdfs for ADMN staff
Select use other credentials:
Username: acdm\jdoe (SAIT student ID without leading zeroes or staff computer login name – can also be admn\jdoe)
Password: computer login password
After they are mapped, it is recommended to create a shortcut on your PC — you can double click on the shortcuts after connecting to the VPN.

Mac: Users with local admin rights
If you can make administrative changes to your device, such as downloading new software, use these instructions to install the GlobalProtect VPN client. If you don't have local admin rights, contact Helpline.
This guide provides instructions on how to download and install the GlobalProtect VPN client for MAC. Local admin rights are required to download the VPN client. If you don't have local admin rights, contact ITS.Support@sait.ca.
1. Launch the Safari browser.
2. Log in to https://portal.sait.ca with your SAIT account (not your SAIT email address).
3. Click Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent hyperlink.
4. After downloading, go to downloads at the bottom right-hand corner, and double click on GlobalProtect.pkg to start the installation.
5. Click Continue on the Install GlobalProtect Installer.
6. Click Continue on Custom Install on ‘System.”
7. Click Install on Standard Install on "System.”
The installation was successful and Global Protect should be located on the top right-hand corner.
Close and choose Keep if you want to keep or Move to Trash if you want to discard the downloaded software.
8. Launch GlobalProtect and enter the address portal.sait.ca.
9. Click Connect
Troubleshooting connection issues
If, the first time you try to use GlobalPortal, it seems stuck when you click Connect, check your security settings. Go to Apple > System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General.
a. If you see an alert about software from PaloAlto Networks being blocked, click Allow, then close your preferences window.
b. If prompted, enter your computer's administrative user name and password, then click Install Software. If you don't have administrative rights to your school-owned computer, contact your departmental tech support personnel.
c. Restart your Mac.
10. Enter SAIT username and your login password to connect to SAIT VPN.
-
For SAIT students: acdm\studentID (without leading zeros, same as student computer login). eg. acdm\123456
-
For SAIT staff: domain \ username (no spaces - same as staff computer login). eg. acdm\jdoto connect to SAIT VPN.
When successful, you will get the following message.
Ensure you're connected to the VPN first.
- Select Finder, hit Command + K to bring up the Connect to Server window.
- Enter the path to the network drive you want to map: smb://acdm.ds.sait.ca/rootdfs or smb://admn.ds.sait.ca/rootdfs
- Click connect.
- Enter your SAIT credentials and click OK. For example, acdm\123456 (student ID without leading zeros) or acdm\jdoe or admn\jdoe for ADMN staff.
- The drive will now appear on your desktop and in the finder window sidebar.
Online portals
mySAIT
mySAIT contains information on:
- myEmployee - Links to Pay Stubs, T4’s, Leave Balances, Time Entry and more
- myFaculty – Links to all of the courses and class lists assigned to an instructor
- mySAIT Tab - Links to O365 Account and Brightspace (Online Content for Courses) as well as links to change your password and update personal information
Username: SAIT ID with leading zeros (000123456)
Default password: birthdate, DDMMYY
Your mySAIT password is the same as your Brightspace password. If you change your password for one, you change your password for the other as well. Always change your password from the default after you log in the first time.
Brightspace (D2L)
Brightspace (D2L) is a learning management system that enables instructors to produce effective learning materials and assessments. It is used to deliver blended courses, which combine face-to-face and online learning, or fully online courses.
Instructors can use these systems to monitor and manage learner progress and communicate with learners in the classroom or at a distance.

You can either log in through the button above directly, or you can access Brightspace (D2L) through mySAIT:
- Log in to mySAIT
- Under MySAIT - Log in to Other SAIT Systems, select Brightspace.
- Your username is your staff ID (the same 9-digit ID number you use for mySAIT)
- Your password is the same password you use for mySAIT

Supported browsers
You are able to access and use Brightspace (D2L) from either a desktop computer, tablet or mobile device:
- Desktop — the latest version of Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Apple Safari
- Tablet or mobile device — Current version of iOS with the latest version of Chrome or Safari or Android 5.0 + OS with the latest version of Chrome
- Please note that Internet Explorer is no longer supported by Brightspace (D2L)
SAITNOW
SAITNOW is the SAIT private intranet site for SAIT staff and instructors. This internal employee portal contains a wealth of information regarding SAIT, including special notices, the Documents Hub, Benefits and Career information, information on each SAIT Division, Academic Resources, Staff Directory, and more.
- SAITNOW can be accessed from any computer by navigating to saitnow.ca and logging in using your computer credentials in domain \ username format
- Your domain is either ACDM, or ADMN and the username is typically your first initial and last name, and is a maximum of 8 characters long. ex: ACDM domain, John Smith – acdm\jsmith
- Use the same computer account password provided to you when you started (unless you have already changed it), and click on Log In
- You do not need to be connected to the VPN to access SAITNOW
PeopleNOW
PeopleNOW is an internal staff website for managing career and professional development at SAIT. This staff portal contains the following sections for managing your career at SAIT, including:
- MyLearning - for managing courses you are taking
- MyPerformance - for managing your work goals and performance reviews
- MyCareerCentre - where you can explore new career opportunities at SAIT

You can either log in through the button above directly, or you can access PeopleNow through SAITNOW.
- Log in to SAITNOW
- Hovering your mouse over the Need to know, or Career tabs.
- On the PeopleNOW log on page, click on Sign In
- Enter your SAIT email address, and your computer password that was given to you when you started (unless you have already changed it), and click on Sign In
- From the drop-down list choose PeopleNOW, and click on Sign In
Software information
Office 365
All staff have access to Microsoft Office 365 and these programs are run on a web browser.
If you wish to install Office 365 onto your computer, follow the provided step-by-step instructions below.
Note: Multi-Factor Authentication is rolling out across SAIT.
- Go to login.microsoftonline.com
- On a new page, click Use Another Account option if there is another email listed that is not your email address. If not, enter your SAIT email address on the right-hand side of the page
- Enter your SAIT staff email address in the format firstname.lastname@sait.ca and select Add Account
- Enter your SAIT computer login password. Note: your account password should have been provided to you by your Department Account Representative/Program Coordinator during Onboarding.
- Click the Sign In button
- On the welcome page, you will see a list of apps including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and many others
- Click on the app you want to use or click the Install Office Apps button on the right-hand side of the screen
Apps
SAIT has a site-wide license for the Zoom video-conferencing application that all employees can use. In order to install and access the SAIT licensed version, you must log on using Single Sign On (SSO) which authenticates that you are connected to the SAIT license
- Start by going to sait-ca.zoom.us and click on Sign In
- Enter your SAIT email address and computer password, and click Sign In
- On your Zoom home page, click on Resources and Download Zoom Client
- Click the Download link for Zoom Client for Meetings and run the installer package
- In the Zoom log on screen, click on Sign In and then click on Sign in with SSO
- In the next screen where it says Enter your company domain, enter sait-ca and click on Continue
- You are now logged in to the Zoom client and can start a new meeting, schedule a meeting, etc.
Printing services
You will need to be connected to the SAIT network through wireless or directly with a cable to a network port in order to print.
- Press the Windows key on your keyboard
- Type \\ followed by the name of the server address (where the printer resides), as per the list below — ex: \\vprn161.acdm.ds.sait.ca
- Hit Enter
- Printers are typically listed in alphabetical order by room number.
- Right-click on the printer you want to connect to and select the Connect option or double-click the printer
- Wait for the drivers to be installed
- You are now connected to this printer and you will see it in the list of printers available on your computer
