Laptops and Hardware

Laptop (e-Learning) program

Students in laptop (e-learning) programs are assigned a SAIT-issued laptop or device with the necessary software, files and applications needed for their studies. E-Learning students are required to use this as part of their program.

SAIT classrooms are outfitted with power, network plug-ins and/or WiFi for students to access online resources during class. Students will use their laptop or device to complete assignments, review course material or possibly complete exams. Details relating to course delivery are program-dependent, so it's best to consult with the applicable program administrators for specific information.

Picking up your laptop

Tuition or confirmation of a student loan must be confirmed, as well as a $400 refundable security deposit paid prior to pick-up. Please ensure you have your SAIT student ID card ready.

For the spring semester, SAIT is sending e-Learning laptops via courier to new students within Canada who have been fully admitted to their program and have paid their tuition fees. You will receive an email to your personal email address with details. Please email its.assets@sait.ca if you have any questions. Students in an e-Learning program who are studying outside of Canada, will be contacted directly by the eLearning program to discuss options.

Please note: going forward student will have to provide their own laptop carrying cases. (A limited supply will be available at the SAIT Bookstore).

Returning your laptops 

Graduating/withdrawing students

If you are graduating or withdrawing at the end of this semester, please hold onto your e-Learning laptop until SAIT reopens. In alignment with the Government of Alberta’s non-essential services guidelines, we are unable to facilitate laptop returns/refunds/purchases at this time. You will be notified by email once an updated return process is confirmed. Please watch your SAIT email for updates. 

Continuing students

If you’re continuing in your SAIT program, please hold onto your laptop for future class use.  

If you have question or concerns, please contact Helpline by email. Helpline hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 5 pm. 

Please provide a phone number and your SAIT ID number so you can be reached in case a Helpdesk Support Specialist needs to contact you to assist with your request. 

Student resources

Technical support is available for general troubleshooting:

  • access to SAIT's wireless network, storage and printing;
  • assistance with some basic troubleshooting of anti-virus or hardware issues; and
  • for resources such as Brightspace (D2L), mySAIT and much more.

e-Learning Services

The e-Learning team provides technical assistance and hardware support to students associated with e-Learning programs. This team manages, distributes and repairs e-Learning program-specific laptops, instructor workstations and lab images at SAIT.
