Life at SAIT
Since 2013, Byron has been an instructor for HVAC, Electrical, and Technical Control Systems including Advanced Troubleshooting, Plumbing, Gasfitting, Pipefitting Installation, and Maintenance.
Additional accomplishments include:
- Initiated usage of 3D virtual reality training for Gasfitter apprentices
- Implemented and developed computer-based teaching materials and techniques for other Pipe Trades instructors at SAIT
- Developed upgrading courses for the Inter-Provincial Gasfitter Exam Challenge
- In 2003, designed and wrote High-Efficiency Boiler Installation and Operations Manual for a joint venture between SAIT and Calgary-based boiler company Conematic Heating Systems including assistance with CSA testing and certification

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
