Celebrating the SAIT Class of 2020

students throwing grad caps in air

Convocation is a special event for thousands of SAIT students every year. It's an opportunity to celebrate and recognize all the time, energy and effort that our students put into their educational journey.

It’s also a time to reflect on the fact many of them would not have been able to graduate without the financial support of our SAIT donor family. We would like to thank you for your support, and invite you to celebrate with our students.

For the Class of 2020, convocation will look a bit different. For the first time ever SAIT will hold a convocation ceremony online!

You are invited to mark your calendar for SAIT’s 2020 Spring Convocation Ceremony online on Thursday, June 18 at 1 pm. Join our students and their families to celebrate the resilience, maturity and hard work of our graduands.  Visit the convocation page to watch live, and for more information on the schedule, the valedictorians, award recipients, Honorary Degree recipients etc.

Take part in the conversation by following @SAIT and @SAITalumni on Twitter and join us in congratulating the Class of 2020 using #SAIT2020.

As part of this unique celebration many of you shared advice, best wishes and notes of congratulations to the newest members of the alumni family.

Here are just a few of SAIT donor’s Words of Wisdom:

“Hey grads! This may feel like a daunting time to enter the work force, but if you continue to put one foot in front of the other and to be open to opportunities, you will find your way. Don't give up on your dream. You will have to work hard but nothing good or worthwhile comes easy.” Ashley Naud (Journalism ’10)

“Although I know that COVID-19 has been incredibly tough on all of you, it has certainly enhanced your education. One of the most critical aspects in your career is that of resiliency and how you deal with the unexpected. Now that you have your new skills and capabilities, completed your education and have world class training in resiliency, you are ready to take on the world! Congratulations and all the best in pursuing your dreams! The world needs your contribution.” – Mark Little (Bachelor of Applied Technology Petroleum Engineering ’01)

“No matter their status, be kind to others. Be honest, loyal and trustworthy. Be a lifelong learner, be yourself, you know yourself better than anyone else does. Establish your dreams and live the life you imagine.” – Ed Tickles (Industrial Electronics Technology ’60)

“Class of 2020! Congratulations on your great achievement… Now that you venture into your next chapter be proud of what you have accomplished and keep growing as you move ahead. Take time to reflect on the challenges you have overcome, be present in the moment and keep moving forward. During these unprecedented times do not be discouraged but find opportunity and potential to help grown the ever-changing world. Again, congratulations on your accomplishment and be excited about the next chapter!” – Matthew Chorney (Petroleum Engineering Technology ’02)
