Punctuating the professional

“The material was very good, and the instructor brought it to life. It opened several doors for me.”

Dwight Boehm was looking to make a career change when he heard about the Professional Service Advisor Certificate at SAIT — one of more than 90 part-time certificates offered through SAIT's Continuing Education program.

A professional service advisor skillfully builds and manages relationships by interacting with customers and technicians in the automotive and heavy equipment industry.

"The course was recommended to me by a service manager at a large dealership in Calgary," says Boehm. "I wanted to understand what the job required and to confirm it was something I would enjoy."

The course answered both questions, but Boehm credits his instructor for making the real connection.

"The material was very good, and the instructor - Mike Rolland - brought it to life," he says. "Mike not only knows how to share knowledge in an exceptional manner, he's a genuine person who cares about the industry and the students he teaches."

Hearing stories about real-life industry experiences throughout the course was a big part of helping Boehm understand key concepts and apply his training in the workplace.

"It opened several doors for me," he says. "Even though I didn't have any recent experience in this field, within a few months I landed a job."
