Revamped Trojans brand celebrated on campus
SAIT's Trojans will start a new year of sports competition with an edgier, revamped look to their classic logo and story.
The sleek symbol and matching mascot was unveiled Wednesday afternoon at a pep rally - giving athletes, students, employees and alumni their first glimpse of the Trojans evolution.
As the crowd gathered, DJ 4 Low - a Trojans assistant basketball coach - played hype-worthy tunes before a live dance performance from Beast Machine. A video tribute outlining the new brand story further fueled anticipation before the new logo was displayed to cheers.
Charging into the future
The ceremony was a tip of the cap - or helmet - to the history of the Trojans' brand, beginning with a video retrospective which took attendees on a journey through 56 years of Trojans Athletics.
Connecting past to present, former mascot Troy then burst through a banner as confetti cannons blasted and Athletics and Recreation staff and Trojans athletes followed, proudly displaying their new gear. The crowd got a taste of the action as the athletes, along with Troy, ran down the red carpet, high-fiving as they went.
The as-yet-unnamed mascot was then unveiled. Dressed in red, white and black with a bright red plume on his helmet, he waved a shield emblazoned with SAIT as the crowd cheered.
