SAIT strikes gold at Provincial Skills
Eight SAIT students garnered gold medals at a scaled-down version of the Skills Canada Alberta Competition held Wednesday, May 11 in Edmonton.
The two-day 2016 Provincial Skills Canada Competition planned for the Edmonton EXPO Centre was cancelled due to the state of emergency declared in response to Alberta wildfires. Instead of cancelling the entire event, NAIT generously hosted an abbreviated one-day competition for post-secondary contestants.
"Many thanks to NAIT and all our Alberta Skills champions for making the competition take place for the benefit of our apprentice and student competitors," said SAIT's Apprenticeship/Skills Coordinator Nino Belvedere.
Along with their gold medals, SAIT took home eight silver and five bronze medals - more than half of SAIT's 38 competitors earned a spot on the proverbial podium.
