Break the silence, break the stigma: Make Some Noise for Mental Health
Crank up the conversation surrounding mental health at events happening throughout January
During what is generally considered the “bluest” time of the year, students and student-athletes across Alberta are getting loud in the name of mental wellness.
Make Some Noise for Mental Health is an awareness campaign encouraging conversation about mental health while promoting campus and community resources. Developed as part of an outreach program for SAIT Trojan student-athletes in 2015, the campaign has grown to include all 17 institutions within the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference and is supported by the Canadian Mental Health Association and presenting sponsor RBC.
This year’s campaign runs Jan. 17 to Feb. 13 and the message is louder than ever — your mental health is important, and support is available. Set your virtual meetings background and check out events to break the silence and join the chorus. #TrojansMakeSomeNoise #MakeSomeNoiseForMentalHealth
🚵♀️ Virtual Bike Ride: Make a Legacy
Monday, Jan. 17 to 28
Take a virtual ride across the Banff Legacy Trail over two 45-minute spin classes led by SAIT student Jenna Rasmussen. Videos will be posted at noon on Monday, Jan. 17 and Wednesday, Jan. 19 and will be viewable online until Friday, Jan. 28. Don’t have a spin bike at home? Limited bikes are available for use in the Wellness Centre. Share your ride on Instagram for a chance at a Trojans swag bag!

Bring handheld noisemakers and get ready to Make Some Noise for Mental Health as we cheer on the Trojans! The men’s and women’s volleyball teams will take on the Medicine Hat College Rattlers and the women’s hockey team will face off against the Olds College Broncos.

Take part in a free virtual POUND® class broadcasted live from SAIT campus. Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for toning up and rockin’ out! All you need is drumsticks and room to move. Stop by the Wellness Centre desk between Jan. 25 and 26 to claim your set of free Trojan drumsticks while supplies last.
