Career Fair

SAIT hosts a career fair to connect our students and alumni with potential employers twice each year. Our next career fair will take place on March 7 and 8 from 9 am to 3 pm in the Founding Builders Atrium, Aldred Centre. This two-day career fair is an excellent opportunity for SAIT students and alumni to meet with recruiters from companies across a wide variety of industries.

Be Prepared

Attend a Career Fair Preparation workshop offered by SAIT Student Employment and Career Centre. Find out what you should bring, how to make a good impression, and what to say in your "elevator speech". Register for an upcoming workshop through Career Connector, our online job board.

Find out who's on the list

Review the employer listings in Career Connector a week before the career fair. Create your Career Connector account as soon as possible because some employers will post available job opportunities prior to the event.

Research companies and prepare questions

Read the company profiles in Career Connector and visit their websites to learn more. Researching potential employers will help you target the booths you most want to visit and prepare a list of questions you may want to ask. For example:

  • What skills or attributes do you value most in your employees?
  • What do you enjoy most about working for the company?

Prepare your resumé

Refresh your resumé and bring several copies to the career fair. Some employers prefer you to apply through their website but it's always a good idea to have printed copies on-hand. If you need some tips, register for a Resumé and Cover Letter Writing workshop.

Exchange business cards

Consider creating your own business card to exchange with recruiters you meet throughout the day. When you ask for their card, find out how they prefer to be contacted so you can follow up after the event.

Plan your arrival time

Attend both days - different employers are here on each day. Plan when and for how long you will visit teh career fair. Although it is busiest over lunch, expect it to be steady all day. Try to arrive before 2 pm as employers will be packing up and leaving at 3 pm.

Dress and act the part

First impressions are important! Dress and act as you would for a job interview. Employers will remember a student that has a prepared approach and a professional appearance.

Get involved!

We are always looking for student volunteers to help with the career fair. Volunteering is a great opportunity to network with employers, gain experience and complement your resumé.

Volunteers will:

  • Greet employers
  • Transport displays
  • Provide lunch coverage
  • Direct student traffic
  • Assist at the Information Booth
  • Have fun!

If you're interested in volunteering, please email student.employment@sait.ca.
