It's not always easy to get the grades you want, but there are plenty of free resources to help you prepare for your classes and succeed at your schooling.
You can refresh your math skills (MATH 123) or get support anytime with a tutor, an academic coach or tutorials — we even have a workshop (Back on Track) especially for students on academic probation.

PREP 100 will help you you make succeed in your studies and make the most of your time at SAIT. Learn transferable skills and strategies such as time management, strategic learning, improving memory and effective note taking — you'll even learn about yourself through self-reflection excersizes.

Prep 145 is a required, free study-skills course just for apprentices — and the smartest six hours you'll spend at SAIT. Discover your learning style, develop memory techniques, learn effective ways to conquer your modules, get tips on how to write multiple-choice tests and prepare for your apprenticeship exam.
You must take this course by the end of your first week of training. Prep 145 will get you ready to hit the ground running and help you get the most out of your experience at SAIT.
Prep 145 is offered evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays OR Tuesdays and Thursdays OR a for a full day (six hours) on Saturday. This course fills quickly so reserve a spot now — have your SAIT ID number ready.
Before you start your full-time program at SAIT, get ready with MATH123. This free mathematics refresher course is for students expecting to take MATH 237 or MATH 238 as part of their program.
MATH 123 will boost your mathematical skills, remind you of the basics, and get you ready for your calculus course. Topics include a review of algebraic equations, geometry, functions and graphs, trigonometric functions, factoring and fractions, quadratic equations, exponents and radicals, exponential and logarithmic functions, additional types of equations and systems of equations, equations of a higher degree, variation, additional topics of trigonometry, plane analytic geometry and transcendental functions.
This course is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays OR Tuesdays and Thursdays (18 hours of instruction), 6 pm - 8:50 pm.
We strongly recommend that you complete MATH123 if you achieve less than 70% on SAIT's Pre-Calculus Self-Diagnostic test.

Back on Track is designed specifically for students on academic probation. If you have been notified by the Registrar's Office that your Cumulative Program Grade Point Average (CGPA) is below 2.0, register now for this free, two-hour workshop and follow up with an academic coach during the semester to discuss your personal success action plan.
The workshop covers:
- understanding academic probation status and academic rules
- calculating grade point average and monitoring academic performance throughout the semester
- performing self-assessments to determine factors contributing to low grades
- discovering available SAIT resources including tutoring, academic coaching, personal counselling, career planning and financial assistance
- making a personalized success action plan
- setting an appointment to follow up with an academic coach

Tutors may not be available for all programs or courses.
Potential peer tutor applications from current SAIT students will be reviewed to ensure they have the minimum grades required to tutor in their requested subject areas. Professional tutors have been asked to submit transcripts and resumes. However, it is not SAIT's responsibility to ensure accuracy of transcripts provided outside of SAIT.
Tutors listed on SAIT's Tutor for Hire Registry are not employees, contractors or agents of SAIT. SAIT makes no representation or warranty as to the tutor's skills or personal character.
We do not check the criminal history of the listed tutors.
Tutors and students should always meet and study in a public place.
SAIT's Tutor for Hire Registry is provided solely as a service to students and tutors to use at their own risk.
All financial and other business arrangements are strictly between the tutor and the tutee.
SAIT shall not be liable for any problems or disputes which arise in the course of the tutor - tutee relationship.

- At least 2nd year of SAIT program of study
- "A" grade in courses you wish to tutor
- Overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Resumé required
- Graduate of SAIT program with overall GPA of 3.5 or higher and "A" grade in courses you wish to tutor OR Diploma/Degree or Graduate degree in area/courses you wish to tutor (please list credential and provide grades)
- Resume and transcripts required

Tutorials are available for MATH 238, BMAT 230, STAT 270, and ACCT 215. Also, courses with high drop, withdraw or fail rates (DWF) have tutorials available in the evenings. The tutorial instructor reviews challenging concepts in a structured classroom setting.
