Life at SAIT
Cindy joined the School of Business in 2019 and teaches Human Resources and Management courses, including Business Leadership, Introduction to Business, Continuous Improvement, Organizational Behaviour, in addition to Human Resource Management and HR Information Systems.
Cindy believes that great transformations transpire through small efforts from bright people willing to think unconventionally. She values trust, collaboration, creative thinking, and systems thinking in her classrooms and prioritizes stretch assignments which are opportunities to discover potential strengths and new interests. Her passions include inspiring her students, training them to look at the bigger picture, and finding efficiency in all that they do.
In her spare time, Cindy writes a blog dedicated to performance and continuous improvement, reads suspense novels, and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Education
Cindy has bachelor's degrees in French and sociology, and a master’s in sociology from Lakehead University. Her thesis focused on the cultural connectedness that is fostered in the French-Canadian minority community outside Quebec. She is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and a Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP).
Professional Accomplishments
Cindy has a comprehensive blend of supervisory, project lead, support team and independent consultancy expertise in IT, HR and Operations. Before making her home in Calgary, Cindy dedicated 10 years to teaching as a K-12 substitute (which taught her a LOT about engagement and overcoming resistance with stakeholders) and taught sociology at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Cindy brings 17 years of industry experience in change initiatives related to shifting responsibilities, project implementations and new technologies. Before joining SAIT as an instructor, she worked in people-planning and operational performance support roles with a focus on learning and development for CompuCom and the City of Calgary.
Volunteerism is a big part of who Cindy is. She serves on the Editorial Team of CPHR Alberta, regularly contributing articles and providing editing for submissions to the CPHR Magazine. She has also been active in the Girl Guides of Canada, serving fellow members in various capacities that have included work at the Unit, District, Area and Provincial levels.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
